Cell on the beach
How beautiful is the first time you see the sea?
Every 25 minutes 4 or 5 buses arrive to Repulse Bay Beach in Hong Kong, in them, Chinese tourists are ready to see, touch, feel and smell the sea for the first time in their lives, people smiling, jumping, getting wet and even drinking the sea´s water while smile and cheer. This is a special day to observe the immensity of the sea, its beauty.
Most of the tourist spend the only 25 minutes they have in the beach in taking lots of selfies while they walk looking at the telephone screen, they are happy to be in the beach and want to have those memories in photos what they won’t probably see anymore. The same photo wherever they go, same face took it from one arm long distance, your trip, your cell.
noun: cell; plural noun: cells
A small room in which a prisoner is locked up
North America (Informal) a mobile phone.
Addiction usually refers to compulsive behavior that leads to negative effects. In most addictions, people feel compelled to do certain activities so often that they become a harmful habit, which then interferes with other important activities such enjoying the beauty of the Sea. Telephone is an addiction so social network is,
constantly checking status updates and posting loads of photos in which we look very happy enjoying moments and different places, but, are we enjoying that moments and places?
Cell on the beach is a photo project in which I want to denunciate the abusive use of telephone and social network, not only for those tourists who daily come to Repulse Bay Beach but everyone and in every where in general where is more important our profiles status for getting likes than looking around us and see the beauty of the beach, the beauty of our friends conversation, the beauty of our couples, the beauty of being disconnected.
