  • Olivia Arthur

    Olivia Arthur es conocida por su fotografía en profundidad que examina a las personas y sus identidades personales y culturales. Gran parte de su trabajo ha iluminado la vida cotidiana de las mujeres que viven en países tan variados como Arabia Saudí, India y toda Europa. Un enfoque más reciente en el retrato de gran formato ha traído su trabajo de vuelta al Reino Unido. "Para mí, parte del poder de la fotografía fija es la ambigüedad de las imágenes, la capacidad de dar una pista sobre una escena o acontecimiento sin ser demasiado absoluta", dice Arthur sobre su trabajo. Arthur nació en Londres y creció en el Reino Unido. Estudió matemáticas en la Universidad de Oxford y fotoperiodismo en el London College of Printing. Comenzó a trabajar como fotógrafa en 2003, tras mudarse a Delhi, y estuvo radicada en la India durante dos años y medio. En 2006 se marchó a Italia para realizar una residencia de un año con Fabrica, durante la cual empezó a trabajar en una serie sobre las mujeres y las diferencias culturales. La representación y el modo en que nos vemos a nosotros mismos son también áreas de interés para Arthur. Exploró estos temas en su proyecto In Private/Mumbai (2016-2018) sobre la sexualidad en la India y a través de su encargo "Portrait of a City" sobre los jóvenes para Hull, City of Culture (2017). El trabajo de Arthur se ha mostrado en publicaciones como The New Yorker, Vogue y la revista TIME, entre otras, y entre sus clientes comerciales seleccionados se encuentran British Airways, Capeb y BNP Paribas. Ha recibido el apoyo del Premio Inge Morath, el Museo Nacional de Medios de Comunicación y el Premio OjodePez-PhotoEspana de Valores Humanos. En 2010, cofundó Fishbar, una editorial y espacio para la fotografía en Londres, con Philipp Ebeling. Arthur sigue regresando a la India y trabajando en Londres, donde vive. Arthur se convirtió en miembro de pleno derecho de Magnum Photos en 2013.

  • Talk on how to get Confusion in a Photo

    With a single photograph and without having to use photoshop we will learn how to create confusion to the viewer looking at our photographs. Making the viewer stare at our photographs for a while and wonder how the photographer got that picture is one of the challenges we have as photographers. In this 45 minutes talk we are going to learn several tricks that you will use in an easy way and you will get that striking photo that will catch the viewer's attention.   • Creativity and narrative in photography

    ➡︎ What will I learn? You will learn how to Develop your creativity and to tell stories with your photographs. ➡︎ What is the course project? You will develop a narrative series of 4-5 photographs that tell, through themselves and their relationship to each other, a narrative idea or concept. ➡︎Who is it intended for? This course is aimed at photographers or creators of any level who wish to explore narrative or conceptual photography, and also want to build their own artistic universe through photographs that, as a whole, can tell stories. ​➡︎ Requirements You will need basic knowledge of photography and photo retouching. A camera of any kind will be necessary; in addition, the use of some editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom is recommended, but not essential. ​➡︎ What is needed for the course? A camera, a finger, an eye, a blank notebook and a pen, you can bring ideas if you want but I assure you that you will get a lot of good ideas as you do this course. ​➡︎ The course Is made up of 7 lessons + Project Presentation day (10.5 Hours ), all of which focus on developing creativity and learning how to observe (Not counting the time you will need to think, create and photograph at home). ​ ➡︎ Lesson 1: Let's introduce ourselves and compose with joy I (Theoretical class) 1,5 hour Let's start in a fun and effective way, here we don't come to study but to photograph in a beautiful way.
