Hello Photographers
Returning to "Breaking the Pattern"
Today we revisit a technique we discussed in a previous post (Breaking the Pattern in Street Photography), which focuses on capturing the viewer's attention by showing unique points of interest at a glance.

The Subway: A Rich Setting for Expressions
Furthermore, I want to highlight the subway as a fascinating setting for photography due to the authentic and often monotonous expressions of people as they wait to reach their destinations. Capturing someone with a different expression can be the key moment for a great photo.
Navigating the Challenges of Limited Space
Photographing in the subway presents certain challenges; it's a confined space where the choice of lens is crucial. A lens larger than 28mm may be too bulky to adequately capture the scene. Moreover, maintaining a low profile is essential in these small spaces.
Techniques for Capturing Unnoticed
Using a smaller camera, avoiding direct eye contact, and shooting from a lower angle can help you stay unnoticed and capture more natural moments.
Analysis of the Subway Photograph
Speaking of the photo accompanying this post, we can see an excellent example of how the subway environment serves to capture a diversity of expressions and the proximity between subjects. This particular image shows several people in a subway car, each lost in their thoughts. It’s a testament to the daily hustle and the limited personal space in public transport.
News and Learning Opportunities at the Academy
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that this week we will offer new free talks for the students of the academy. We will soon start another street photography course, where we will learn through exercises and challenges the wonderful art of capturing life on the streets.
