About the Course

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY LEVEL I



This is a course to start from zero level and is focused on how to start observing and getting those images we always wanted to get.

There are two phrases that you will hear throughout this course


If you know what you are looking for it will be much easier to find it.
Practice, practice until it becomes an instinctive act.


Well that's what we are going to do in this course, understand what we want to photograph and how we are going to do it.




 



What will you learn in this course?


You will learn how to

  • Be invisible, to get into the scenes you want to photograph while remaining unnoticed.

  • Balance your images with two points of interest

  • Contrast subject/subject/object/subject

  • Use different types of shutter speeds

  • Split the frame and get different scenes in each split.



 



Lesson 1. Invisibility and Balance in Photography


In this lesson we are going to learn how to:

  • How to be invisible and go unnoticed.

  • Look far away to photograph close up

  • Contrasting subjects/subjects/subjects

  • Locate two points of interest

  • Find expressions, emotions and decisive moments.

In this lesson we are going to apply different types of slow shutter speeds and thus know how to give prominence to

  • What is moving

  • What does not move


You will learn how to:

  • Know when and where to switch to slow speeds.

  • Change the dial on your camera quickly

  • Give movement to your images

  • Contrast subjects/subjects/subjects with movement

Lesson 3. Dividing the frame in our images


In this lesson we are going to divide the frame and find scenes in each part of those divisions, we can apply the two previous lessons and the result will make us get photographs that impact the viewer.


You will learn how to:

  • Find any object that the street gives us to divide our frame.

  • Find the right angle to separate the scenes.

  • Use natural frames

  • Use different techniques.

There are 10 different types of exercises and challenges for each lesson that the student has to achieve and upload to the private group.


At the end of the course the student will be asked to take 5 pictures applying each of the techniques seen in the lessons, as a result, the student can get pictures like these:

What do you need for this course?

This is an online classroom course and you need


  • A computer or other device with internet connection, optional microphone and headphones.

  • For your practical sessions, exercises and challenges you need a camera or any other device (mobile phone, tablet...)

  • A photo editing program (Lightroom, photoshop, etc...) is highly recommended.



 


How long does the course last?

The course consists of three lessons of approximately one hour and a half each, plus there is an extra day for students to exhibit their final photos (there is a final exam applying on a photo certain tricks, techniques learned in class).



 

How much does it cost and what is included in the course fee?


The price of the online course is HK$1500 (+- US$190) and is included in the price:

What is the limit to the number of students in the course?

The limit of students for the course is 8 people, with a minimum of 3 students per course.

Miguel Marina ¨Miguelitor¨ is a Spanish photographer based in Hong Kong since 2010. Miguel has extensive experience in teaching photography both in practical and theoretical classes. Miguel has exhibited his work in several countries and taught photography workshops in Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Spain and Portugal.
