Photography workshop in Manila, Philippines, December 1st- 7th 2019
We close our photo workshops season in one of the most populated cities in the world, Manila, Philippines . We already wanted to visit the capital of this beautiful country and much more of photographing what it offers to us, not only street photography but documentary. we are going to document with photos some places which in some we needed a special permission. The workshop consists in waking up early, taking photos, talking about photography, edition, critic and some night beer.

Cerramos los talleres de fotografía en una de las ciudades más pobladas del mundo, en Manila, Filipinas. Ya teníamos ganas de visitar la capital de este hermoso país y muchísimas más de fotografiar lo que nos ofrece, no es sólo fotografía callejera sino que vamos a documentar varios sitios en los que hemos necesitado de algún permiso para poder fotografiar. el taller consta de 7 días de madrugones, fotografías, fotógrafos, edición, crítica y cerveza nocturna (por eso de reponer las fuerzas).
El taller se realizará en Inglés y/o español
We start our workshop at 7.00 am in the premier fish center of the Philippines and one of the largest in Asia, Navotas Fish Port, we will attend the fish market, its trading and hustle (we have a special permission)
12.00 p.m - 1.00 p.m Lunch
We will walk 2 kilometres while photographing Navotas streets until our destination, Navotas Public Cemetery where we will photograph and talk to the people/families who live there in (we have been requested a special permission and pay a fee aimed to those families)
18.00 hrs, back to hotel, selection, edition and photography critic

Empezamos nuestro taller las 7 de la mañana en Navotas Fish Port, el mercado de pescado más grande de Filipinas, asistiremos a su lonja, mercadeo y bullicio (requerimos de permiso especial)
12.p.m Comemos hasta 13.00 horas
Andamos 2 kilómetros mientras fotografiamos las calles de Navotas hasta llegar al cementerio público Navotas donde fotografiaremos y entrevistaremos a las familias que allí viven, (hemos tenido que solicitar permiso especial y pagar una tarifa que va destinada a la ayuda de estas familias)
18.00 vuelta al hotel, selección, edición y crítica fotografica

8.00-17.00hrs (for health and hygiene reasons we will take our food from outside)
Smokey Mountain is the largest dumpsite the poorest of the poor are making their livelihood by picking up a 20 mts high garbage where the residues have been accumulated for the last 50 years, most of the people working there are under 20 years old who scratch out in order to find something for recycling
(we have been requested a special permission and pay a fee aimed to those families)
A Filipino guide is provided
Interviews to the people are allowed, documentary and portraits photos
It is a must a full length pants, insects repellent, gumboots

8.00 a 17.00 horas (una hora para comer, por motivos de higiene y salud, nos llevaremos nuestra propia comida, fruta)
Smokey Mountain es un vertedero de basura de 20 metros de altura a las afueras de la capital, donde se acumulan los residuos de Manila desde hace más de 50 años, la gente que ahi trabaja son en su mayoría gente menor de 20 años que escarban para encontrar algo que reciclar.
Hemos necesitado un permiso especial del gobierno para poder entrar y la tarifa que pagamos va a una ONG que ayuda a estos jóvenes.
Vamos con guía filipino y se nos permite entrevistas, las fotos a realizar serán de tipo documental y retratos.
Llevaremos pantalón largo, repelente de insecto y botas de agua (pueden ser compradas cerca)

Baseco Beachthese is classified among the most polluted maritime areas in the world, near 200.000 people live around the beach in irregular settlements, Nowadays NGOs, school students, voluntaries... are cleaning Baseco Beach but still can be seen plastics, junks and all type of toxic materials all around it
From 8.00 to 17.00, we will have a lunch in one of the street food shop in Baseco Town

Las aguas más contaminadas de Filipinas donde más de 200.000 personas viven en asentamientos irregulares, hoy en día ONGs, escuelas, voluntarios... están limpiando la playa de Baseco pero aún se puede ver plásticos por todos los lados
Haremos fotografías desde las 8.00 de la mañana hasta las 17.00, comeremos en un de los puestos callejeros del poblado de Baseco

We will visit and photograph all around it, San Lorenzo Church, riverside...

Thanks to a good work Pasig river is nowadays cleaner than years ago, for years, this river, was seen as a huge dump for over 13 millions of people and in 1990 it was declared biologically dead
We will walk around its riverside and photograph its shanty houses settled there, after lunch we will tour inside Barangay Town to photograph its neighbourhood

Hoy en día el río Pásig está mucho más limpio que en épocas anteriores donde siempre fue visto como un vertedero para la mayoría de los 13 millones d habitantes de Manila, de hecho la contaminación era tan alarmante que en 1990 se declaró al río Biológicamente muerto
Recorreremos por su orillay fotografiaremos los poblados ahí asentados, finalmente y después de nuestro almuerzo nos adentraremos en el poblado Barangay para fotografiar la vida de sus vecinos
